Wonderland 45

Wonderland 45 is located 13km outside of Pretoria East and 20km from Bronkhorstspruit, making it a quick drive just outside of the city.

Boschkop River

The Boschkop River originates as a fountain, about 1km upstream, flowing through Wonderland 45. The water is pure, not contaminated by any industrial or residential waste.

We have 5 dams and the Boschkop River offering you fishing for:

  • Bass (Baars)
  • Catfish (Baber)
  • Carp (Karp)
  • Tilapia (Kurper)
  • Trout (Forel)

Fishing

Carp, Bass and Catfish

  • These species are Strictly - CATCH & RELEASE
  • If the fish got hurt, is bleeding, dying or died when caught, the fish need to be taken to the fish station where they will clean the fish and you must pay for it.

Tilapia

  • CATCH & RELEASE – In Dam2, 4 and 5
  • CATCH & BUY – In Dam 2
  • If the fish got hurt, is bleeding, dying or died when caught, the fish need to be taken to the fish station where they will clean the fish and you must pay for it.

Trout

  • CATCH & RELEASE – In Dam2, 4 and 5 ONLY when caught with a flyfishing rod and fly – NO BAIT ALLOWED WITH A FLY
  • CATCH & BUY – In Dam 2 and 4
  • If the fish got hurt, is bleeding, dying or died when caught, the fish need to be taken to the fish station where they will clean the fish and you must pay for it.

 

Months the fish are active

  • Tilapia, Bass and Catfish - October to April.
  • Carp – The whole year
  • Trout – April to October. November is the end of season, and all the Trout are to be caught out, therefore Catch and Buy, and will be removed from the dams.

 

Camping, Picnic and Day Visiting

 

Camping - Booking is essential.

We have 25 grassed campsites with electricity, each with a built braai supplied with a grid, a light and fresh borehole water. All the stands are all next to a dam. The stands are serviced every day.

To make a booking:

 

Picnic/Day Visiting - Booking is not necessary

  • You are welcome to come in every day of the year without a booking, we are open between 06:00 and 18:00.
  • Picnic spots are available next to the dams and under the trees at the Picnic Area. All the picnic spots have a built braai supplied with a grid.
  • Vacant camp stands may be used by Day visitors too. If the stand is reserved for a camper there will be a RESERVED sign on the stand and may not be used by day visitors.
  • Group bookings - Booking is essential

Group bookings can be made for Day Visiting for a group for example, children’s parties, family gatherings, team building, church groups, etc, but the booking needs to be done in advance and payment needs to be made upfront.

Other facilities:

Ablution blocks – Our ablution block has fresh borehole water, flush toilets, hot showers and a bathroom and dish washing facilities. The ablution block is in walking distance from the dams.

Swimming

  • Above ground swimming pools that are suitable for children
  • The Speeldam where the kids and the young and old can play all day on the rowing boats and slide on the 12m long slide and dare to swing over the water on 5m high swings.

Playgrounds

  • Jumping castle
  • 2 playgrounds with swings and slides
  • 2 sand pits for the children
  • Lots of open space for games and running around
  • You are welcome to bring the children’s bicycles to ride around

The Animal Farm

  • Food packets are for sale at the Reception, to feed the animals at the Animal Farm.
  • Donkey, Mary and Willemien our tamed Donkey family loves to be fed, they love rubs and kisses too.
  • Our naughty Boerbokke loves to be fed as much as possible.
  • Our Emu is also waiting for a snack.

Shop at the Reception

  • You can rent fishing rods, scoop nets, tables, and chairs.
  • Fish baits
  • Fishing tackle
  • Snacks, cold drinks, sweets, chips etc.

  • Ice
  • Basic needs of things you might have left at home
  • Toys and more

Take-Away

The Take-Away is open on Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays from 09:00 - 15:00.

Pet friendly

You may bring your doggy along, but it must be on a leash at all times, keep it away from the Donkeys and it may not chase our rabbits, chickens and geese. You are are responsible for the safety of your pet and the other guests.
